The CYPRES2 is an AAD manufactured by Airtec in Germany. The company has manufactured AADs since 1991 and has more than 1000 documented saves. CYPRES is an acronym for CYbernetic Parachute RElease System.
The unit includes a Processing Unit, Release Unit and Control Unit.
The CYPRES2 is waterproof for upto 24 hours down to 5 feet. It has a replaceable water filter.
The unit is available in five models: Changeable, Expert, Student, Tandem and Speed. If purchased as a set mode (Expert, Student, Tandem or Speed), the mode can only be changed by the manufacturer or service center. If purchased in the Changeable mode, the unit can be changed by the user at any time during the unit's lifetime.
Firing Altitude & Speeds for the 4 models
- Expert: 750 ft/78 mph
- Student: 1000/750 ft/29 mph
- Tandem: 1900 ft/78 mph
- Speed 750 ft/96 mph/will not fire below 330 feet.
To turn unit on, the button is pressed four times. Once to wake-up and then once every time the LED light flashes. The unit counts down from 10 to 0. As long as the unit makes the countdown without any error messages, and stays on 0 with the arrow, then it is on for the next 14 hours. The CYPRES2 automatically shuts off after 14 hours.
To manually turn off the unit, press the button to start the LED flashes, and press the button at each LED flash. The unit is off if the 0 disappears and the screen is blank.

The CYPRES2 has a lifetime of 12.5 years. It must goto Aitec or SSK for service at 4 years and 8 years from the DOM. It is no longer airworthy after 12.5 years.
