  1. Smooth and Reliable; Great if you're looking to jump a Stiletto later

Good flat flying, reliable canopy. Always had smooth openings, but they tended to turn about 45 degrees to the right despite several different packing methods and really watching harness input. Could just be a rigging issue. I personally prefer the flatter glide angle than the Sabre 2. For me, the flatter glide allows me to better project where I'm going to land. Flares a little slow due to its lower descent rate so you'll need to put more power into your toggles higher than on a Sabre 2. Put maybe 30 jumps on this canopy before going to the Stiletto and it was a seamless transition. Recommend buying this canopy and using it to progress to the Stiletto. If you want to jump a Katana as your first elipitical I recommend a Sabre 2 to Katana progression.

  2. My Pulse is a fantastic choice for a 1st Canopy

First some context: I'm a new jumper with under 60 jumps. I've only had her for a few weeks and 13 jumps so I cannot speak to the durability of it at this time (disregard Durability, the review system obliges a choice).
My comments about price are based on having purchased an entire system, not the canopy on it's own.
    Canopy purchased: Custom Pulse 190.

Since I wanted to customize my canopy, I chose to do so via PD's website (BTW: The Folks at PD were also super amazing and helpful as I called to inquire about various technical aspects of the canopy while I made my selection among the many very competitive offerings from several manufacturers!). PD has a neat little tool where you can get a very good idea of what the canopy will look like after you've made your color selections (although in my case, she turned out orders of magnitude more beautiful than anticipated!). After making your color selections, there is a section where you input the dealer's information, and Laura at ChutingStar made this very easy providing me with exactly what I'd need.

Given how new and crispy she is, I was rather surprised with how easy she was to pack, despite being at the upper limit of what the manufacturer recommended for canopy size (RI Curv Vc04). It's only hellishly difficult when it's hellishly hot and humid to the point were it just wants to stick to you but slide off itself - however, I found those conditions not particularly great for jumping anyway (95+F, 85%+ RH).

Her openings don't seem to linger forever like the Saber 190 can, without being particularly hard.
As for flight characteristics: She doesn't inherently have the greatest wind penetration (vs the Saber 190 I was jumping prior), but flattening out her Angle of Attack via the rear risers makes a noticeable difference when need be.
I've enjoyed landing her, finding her easier to land than the saber 190. Thus far, the flare has been ample powerful when needed. The fabric colors I chose were very vibrant which I love (I also chose a neon heavy palate).
NOTE: PD also has a great video comparing 4 of their most popular intermediate canopies to provide better guidance when making your selection based on what characteristics you may be seeking.

The price I paid for the whole system was fantastic! However, the quality of service received from ChutingStar was such that even if they ultimately were a little more expensive, they would still be who I'd make my purchase from.
