  1. Inadequate Protection For Any Real Collision -- No EPS Foam

This helmet uses some standard run-of-the mill foam for padding inside. While that is fine for light scratches and bumps, such as hitting your head on the top of the airplane, it is possibly seriously inadequate for any actual collision. The certified version of this helmet has EPS foam which compresses in a manner as to absorb energy when you slam your head on an object hard enough to cause serious injury. This non-certified version does not have the EPS foam. Pay the extra $10 and get the certified version of this helmet. If you collide with another skydiver or the deck hard, that extra $10 for EPS foam could save your life. View this link for more info: https://vimeo.com/55624399

This is a great starter helmet. I used one for 27 jumps. My DZ has been using these for a long time, and they've held up through lots of use. It's nothing special, but it protects your noggin from minor bumps (hitting your head on the plane or minor bumping from group exits). Also, the ear ports are nice for mounting radios or audibles. I particularly like this helmet because it fits my head well. I have a large head that measures at 61cm and this helmet is snug without putting pressure on my head. I just bought one to use until I get down to a store to try on fancier helmets.
