The new ColorAlti 3 from Freefall Data Systems!
ColorAlti 3 combines the stark warnings of an audible altimeter with the constant peripheral-vision altitude awareness that ColorAlti® technology enables. It is among the most flexible and capable altitude awareness devices in the industry. Log data and set up to five presets via Bluetooth LE on the FDS Altis app. Easy-to-use, always-on design. Multiple light options available.
The biggest improvements from the previous ColorAlti version is in the hardware itself. It is smaller by a significant amount and is hardcoat-anodized. It also has double the battery life, which can last up to four months between charges (this of course depends on use). And it has the USB-C connection. On the software side it is very similar as the previous models with mostly small improvements, but now you can copy presets under Settings->Main.Â
The StickyLight 3 has an improved design where there are now two clips facing opposing directions. This improves the strain relief on the cable making it stay in place better than previously. The light port on ColorAlti 3 is smaller at 2.5 mm so all the lights have 2.5 mm plugs on them. The RigidLight has an improved circuit board.Â

StickyLight 3
The new 10-LED StickyLight 3 builds on our years of experience in creating flexible circuit boards designed to be adhered to various skydiving helmets' visors. It has a sleek design, about the thickness of your average frame of glasses, and now features two clips facing opposing directions in order to better secure the cable and add additional strain relief. It fits almost any closed-face helmet and has become the most popular light option for this altimeter thanks to its significant light coverage despite its minimal footprint.
FlexiLight 3
FDS has dialed in the design of the FlexiLight, which was the first type of light we created for ColorAlti technology. The principle behind FlexiLights is that the gooseneck portion can be bent into shape and retains its form once installed. FlexiLight 3 contains four LEDs. Although they are intended primarily for open-face helmets, these lights can be used in closed-face helmets as well with the advantage being that they remain in place when the visor is lifted.
RigidLight 3
RigidLight 3 is another type of visor-based light that contains 10 LEDs. Unlike StickyLights, these lights contain a rigid circuit board mounted with screws and nuts that can be removed and mounted on other visors once the visor needs to be replaced. It has the smallest footprint of all of the options, but does require drilling into the visor.
