Description

Nitrofly Linchpin Skydive Container Closing Tool.

Nitrofly's innovative Linchpin Closing Tool keeps the cord locked on the bar in a non-slip channel as you slide it through each grommet. The cord on traditional closing tools slip off the back of the bar, frustrating you or your packer when on a fast call for the plane. But the Linchpin's non-slip channel keeps the cord locked in place during the closing process.

Manufactured with an ultra light 303 stainless steel bar and high tensile strength cord. The yellow and orange Linchpin cord is the strongest of all the available skydive container closing tools on the market at an 800-pound tensile strength with abrasion protectors in key locations. The white Linchpin cord, is the 450-pound CYPRES cord used with all other common packing tools and is the necessary cord to use if packing Sigma tandem rigs.

These Linchpins include the new comfort grip and protective sleeve, which makes the Linchpin bar the most comfortable packing tool to use as well as protects the powder coating finish.

Available in several different colors/configurations:

  • Military Green/Yellow: Military Green powder-coated bar and 800-pound tensile strength 17.5" yellow cord.

  • Military Green/Orange: Military Green powder-coated bar and 800-pound tensile strength 17.5" orange cord.

  • Pink/Yellow: Pink powder-coated bar and 800-pound tensile strength 17.5" yellow cord.

  • Pink/Orange: Pink powder-coated bar and 800-pound tensile strength 17.5" orange cord.

  • Purple/Yellow: Purple powder-coated bar and 800-pound tensile strength 17.5" yellow cord.

  • Purple/Orange: Purple powder-coated bar and 800-pound tensile strength 17.5" orange cord.

  • Powder Blue/Yellow: Powder Blue powder-coated bar and 800-pound tensile strength 17.5" yellow cord.

  • Powder Blue/Orange: Powder Blue powder-coated bar and 800-pound tensile strength 17.5" orange cord.

  • Silver/White: Silver bar and 450-pound tensile strength 20" white cord.

The powder-coated bars are a bright to make it easy to spot if dropped on the packing floor. There are two available cord colors with the powder-coated bars: Orange or Yellow. The silver bar is not powder-coated, but is the same 303 stainless steel, and only comes with the white cord.

The Linchpin is threaded through the closing loop and then threaded through each grommet as you close each flap. The Linchpin is also a great rigging tool for installing soft links, bumpers and similar projects.

The 17.5" length cord is the perfect length skydivers closing sport rigs. The 20" cord is the perfect length for closing Sigma tandem rigs. The Linchpin bar is 3.5" in length.

When not in use, many skydivers wear the Linchpin as a necklace!

Includes stickers from Nitrofly with every Linchpin.

How to use:

  • Put Linchpin through main container closing loop and place free end loop into channel.

  • Begin lacing Linchpin through your main container grommets. Be sure to follow your container manufacturer instructions on closing sequence. Pull tightly.

  • Once all the main container flaps are together and closing loop is visible, push the closing pin (located on your pilot chute bridle) through the closing loop and release pressure from the Linchpin allowing the main container to rest in its normal shape.

  • Slide Linchpin cord under the closing pin, remove free end loop from the Linchpin channel and slowly pull the cord out from the closing loop.

  • Make another jump and repeat.

  • At the end of the day of jumping, the point of the Linchpin can be used to poke a hole in your beer can to shotgun.

Makes packing even faster and easier! I'll always have this in my packing kit.
Really great packing tool; my favorite one on the market. If you are a packer though, make sure to get the Silver one with the White cord; the colored cords tear through closing loops really fast.

Very durable! I had my silver one last me for over a year of full time packing at a busy drop zone without having to replace the cord! It actually got stolen before the cord was anywhere near needing replaced.

You only need a flick of your wrist to undo the cord after you pin the rig; saves a lot of time over a whole day. Very handy to have the pointy end as well to take off rubber bands. The silver one I got had the cord sewn so that you didn't have the eye slipping and changing sizes on you and no annoying "hernias" on the cord.

Best closing tool ever. Period.
Best closing tool ever. Period. My friends at the DZ saw mine and have started buying their own. Way better than the PowerTool and (sorry ChutingStar) much better than ChutingStar's tool too.

The notch is cut at an angle so it's much harder to drop the loop while sliding the tool through the grommets. The spiky end is great for removing broken rubber bands.

Best packing tool design on the market
As a newly minted pro packer, I've used the few different types of closing tools out there on the market. Once you've mastered the use of this packing tool, you won't reach for other packing tools in your stash. It is by far, hands down, the best packing tool design. With the pointy end allowing for easy broken rubber band stow removal plus the tool design allowing the removal of the tool's loop from the tool after rig closing... this tool provides any level of packer just a little more efficiency while packing. If you're a pro packer as a source of income, I cannot recommend this tool enough; it's 100% worth your investment. Be sure to get the 800lb. orange line on your piece. It's more durable, doesn't fray as easily and lasts longer than standard 400lb. line. Cheers

Excellent product
High quality closing tool...I am not a pro packer, just a fun jumper so I expect this baby will last forever. If not it is cheap enough to buy another one. On the flip side thanks to Chuting Star for providing an extra cloth pull up cord with order and some swag stickers. That is what customer service should be. Shipping was super fast as well.

Best closing tool
Best closing tool. Never drops the line. Pointy end removes rubber bands easily.

Little over priced, but all closing tools are, so what can you do? +$7 is worth it compared to other models though.

Best Tool So Far
I bought this tool after I "LOST" another brand tool at the DZ. I like the color to keep from "losing" another tool on the packing mat. The finger trapped loop on my particular tool was too short but after several uses the loop has stretched a bit as the rest of the spectra has shrunk. Highly recommended as the channel design keeps the loop from slipping off when you are passing it through the grommets.

Great bar design, be ready to replace the loop quickly
Design of the bar is perfect but the looped line portion is very rough initially which decreases closing loop life dramatically. Once the tool is "broken in" the looped line portion will break quickly (replaced mine with cypress loop material) and the paint starts to wear off of the bar. (all noted within 3 weeks of purchase)

This new Power Tool is faster and easier than any other tool.
The LinchPin is a completely different design than any other power tool. Being a packer for a while, i would get frustrated with other power tools and resort back to the chord. Then NitroFly came out with the LinchPin and I've been using it for all different reasons from soft links to chugging beers. The LinchPin has cool colors, super strong, cool new design and mostly closes your container faster and easier. Plus bonus included, all them cool stickers shown in the picture. Two Thumbs up NitroFly and LinchPin
