The Trimsetter Chernis Collapsible Main Pilot Chute with black hackey or black freefly handle is a kill-line replacement pilot chute.
The Trimsetter Chernis main pilot chute comes in a variety of fabric and bridle options for your canopy size and features a window to check that the pilot chute is cocked.
This collapsible replacement main pilot chute was designed by Larry Chernis, the former manufacturer of the Infinity container who has 40 years of manufacturing/rigging experience. It is now manufactured by Scott Cave of Trimsetter. These pilot chutes can be used on any container and are in stock with white F-111 or black ZP pilot chute fabric and a black hackey or black freefly handle.
The Trimsetter Chernis Pilot Chutes currenly come in 28", 30" and 32" sizes in the F-111 fabric or 24", 28" and 30" in the ZP fabric, and standard (10' overall length/7' pin to pc) or wingsuit (12' overall length/9' pin to pc) bridle lengths.
- The 24" ZP & 28" F-111 size is designed for canopies 150 square-feet or smaller.Â
- The 28" ZP & 30" F-111 size is designed for canopies 160-square-feet to 230-square-feet.Â
- The 30" ZP & 32" F-111 size is designed for canopies 240-square-feet or larger and/or larger wingsuit or AFF student applications..
The latest version of the Trimsetter Chernis Pilot Chute come with flared confluence wrap connection for assembly to the d-bag, elimanting the need for a metal or soft link.Â

Custom color pilot chutes and hackeys as well as alternative handles including hackey with tab, Monkeyfist or Freefly PUD with tab, are available by request. Custom color requests have a 2-week turnaround time, and color availability will have to be verified with the manufacturer. Top notch customer serviceOrdered this pilot chute recently, had a minor issue and reached out to Chutingstar about it. They replied in less than an hour and CC’d the manufacturer in the email, 5 minutes later I had a reply from the manufacturer (Larry Chernis himself) saying they take any manufacturing errors very seriously, apologized for the inconvenience, and asked which model I had so they could send me an immediate replacement. A week later I have a brand new, flawless pilot chute and am happily jumping again. 100% would order from Chernis again.

Best you'll find at a cheaper priceI originally purchased this pilot chute when I noticed small tears on my stock chute. Not wanting to pay full retail for a Mirage pilot chute, I decided to go with this one, and I am glad I did. In its 150+ jumps so far, I have noticed no noticeable wear or deterioration. It also does a fantastic job at doing what it is supposed to do, and the build quality is exceptional for the price. If your main focus is wingsuiting, I would recommend buying a Squirrel SkySnatch pilot chute, but this will do perfectly fine if you are looking for a day to day, collapse-able pilot chute.
