The new Valkyrie from Performance Designs...now available with the Sail/ZP Hybrid canopy fabric option!

Note: Please read the ordering instructions in the description below for links to the PD Stock List and Design Program.

The Valkyrie builds on the dominating performance of the Peregrine and is designed as a step up from the Comp Velocity. Unlike the Peregrine, the Valkyrie was intended for freefall use, so the opening performance was a major consideration in the development of the canopy. And the openings on the Valkyrie are superb! Not to mention, it is simply a blast to fly. Whether you're filming tandems all day or dedicated to canopy piloting, the Valkyrie will reinvigorate the everyday jump and excite even the most passionate canopy pilots. We loved making it. You're going to love flying it.

Available with 300 or 500 Orange Vectran suspension lines with 750 for the lower steering lines. Standard configuration is for everyday use with 500 Vectran and standard collapsible slider. The optional RDS or Collapsible RDS Slider can be added.

The new Orange Vectran from PD yields a longer line life than HMA line previously used on the Comp Velocity, is smaller in size/diameter than comparable sized HMA and Is more resistant to abrasion and maintains its strength better than comparable sized HMA.

And now available in the Sail/ZP Hybrid canopy fabric with everything you love about the Valkyrie but more. PD incorporated sail fabric into the Valkyrie’s ribs to give it more power, more responsiveness and longer swoops than the all ZP constructed Valkyrie. Think of it as a “Valkyrie on steroids” with more sensitivity in the harness and more stopping power than ever before. Available as an option when purchasing the Valkyrie, the sail ribs are a great addition for the seasoned Valkyrie owner. When choosing between the all ZP and Hybrid Valkyrie, keep in mind that the sail ribs will increase pack volume about a half size in comparison to the all ZP Valkyrie. Overall lifespan of the canopy is similar to that of an all ZP wing, but features improved rear riser performance and a better carry and longer swoops. Note: Sail ribs are only available in black or white fabric.

Technical Information:

  • Options: RDS, Collapsible RDS and 300 Orange Vectran (for competition use)
  • Standard configuration: All ZP fabric
  • Optional: Sail/ZP Hybrid fabric

Additional info on the ZP vs. Hybrid configurations:

What's the difference between the two?

  • The ribs on the standard Valkyrie are made from ZP where the ribs on the Hybrid Valkyrie are made from sail fabric. Sail fabric makes a more rigid airfoil providing more responsiveness and power in the bottom end.

Is there a different lineset on the Hybrid Valkyrie?

  • No, both Valkyries use the exact same line sets. You have the option of either 500 HMA or 500/300 Orange Vectran.

Does the Hybrid Valkyrie have a pack volume difference?

  • Sail fabric increases pack volume by about 1/2 size compared to the standard Valkyrie.

Is there a price difference for Hybrid Valkyrie?

  • Sail ribs are more on all Valkyries.

How does the sail fabric affect the durability of the canopy?

  • The overall lifespan is similar to an all ZP canopy.

Should I leave the Hybrid Valkyrie unpacked if it will sit a few weeks between jumps?

  • No, our Peregrine shows unfavorable symptoms if left packed too long, but not the Hybrid Valkyrie.

I have about 600 jumps on Valkyrie 96 and 350 jumps on Valkyrie 90.

Been flying Velicity for many years which still is on top the top list of high performance canopies. Compare to Velicity the Valkyrie has better openings. It's not sniveling like the Velo, It opens faster. more than less always on heading. It has higher speed but also faster recovery after diving. But do not expect that huuuge differences like the rumors is saying.

I have about 250 jump on a 96 loaded at about 2.1: 1, and a season of jumping it back to back with a Velo of the same size. (Updated- currently have ~500 jumps on the 96)

    Overall...it's freaking amazing.

    Top to bottom review-
Openings- Soft, but shorter snivel than the VE. Less shake than a velo during the opening, and more on heading. I fly camera and love it.

Toggles- really loves to turn and dive into turns. Very responsive. Moderate to high toggle pressure.
Fronts- similar to a Velo. Pretty stiff from full flight.
Rears- will really flatten out on rears, and very responsive to turning input. For landing- Significantly more power on the rears than the velo. You can stay on the rears longer, and still have more bottom end than you would think when you go to toggles. Significantly more than the VE.
Dives- At first I felt like the recovery was shorter, because it took me a while to dial in the dive. It really wants to rotate, and the technique i was using on the velo to slow my rotation and dial in the dive didn't work as well on the VK. It would finish the turn sooner, and thus recover sooner. Once I got it dialed in, I turn the VE and the VK at the same altitude.

Overall, I love this wing. It isn't a first time cross brace wing..but if you are ready for it, you will love it. Everything you love about a Velo it has and does better. The quirks you may not like about the velo...it doesn't have.
