The lightly-tapered 7-cell Spectre is one of the most popular canopies PD has ever produced. A surprisingly flat glide and soft on-heading openings (with plenty of snivel!) make the Spectre the canopy of choice for the professional cameraman. The Spectre is also known for its smooth, progressive response on the toggles. If your priority is predictability, the Spectre is your canopy.

I love my Spectre! I bought it at jump 26 and have put about 200 jumps on it. Very forgiving canopy, quickly recovers and can be forced into recovery very easily. The snivel is a little long but very soft and is usually on heading but that depends more on body position. You can fly your snivel to correct any turns but it is very easy to over correct while it inflates. I bought mine with over 200 jumps on it and it looked new. After the dust at MOAB and Eloy it still looks fairly new (minus a few drops of blood from a kick in the face).

As a beginner it was a great starter canopy and now after a few hundred jumps I still love it!

The PD Spectre is the canopy of choice for many wingsuiters, including me, as well as some of the world's best videographers. Members of the Red Bull team jump this canopy with the addition of Dacron lines as an option to make the openings even more similar to a 7-cell BASE canopy (a good thing in the world of wingsuit openings). Guys like Craig O'Brien who jump a lot of weighty camera equipment on their head also choose this canopy. Why? Because you can't beat the soft, on-heading, consistent openings.

When I am test jumping wingsuits that are wider than I am tall, I am thankful for my Spectre at pull time. With wingsuits' much larger burbles, jumping a lightly loaded (ideally no more than 1.3:1), docile main canopy is essential for avoiding line twists and other malfunctions. To top it off, the flare power is awesome.

If you're looking for a canopy that will ease your mind at pull time, whether for jumping a fully-loaded camera helmet or a large wingsuit - or both, as I sometimes do - the Spectre is the best thing out there, in my opinion.
