Oral & Practical FAA Testing for Senior and Master rigger candidates as well as certificated riggers needing to add-on a type rating.
Mike Gruwell is a DPRE (Designated Parachute Rigger Examiner) for the FAA. A pre-test interview is required to make a testing appointment. Two completed/signed 8610-2 forms, the passed written report and a government photo identification are needed at the pre-test interview.
Testing fees as follows:
- Oral & Practical Exam for Senior Rigger with one rating (back, seat or chest), $350;
- Each additional type rating during Senior or Master Rigger Exam (back, seat or chest), $100;
- Oral & Practical Exam for Master Rigger, $500;
- Oral & Practical Exam to add on additional rating (back, seat or chest), $250.
Note: Expect the Senior and Master Rigger Exams to last 6-8 hours. Add-on type ratings test last 2-4 hours. There is no required minimum or maximum test time, so these times are just an average of what we've seen over the past 10 years.
Payment is due before test begins and is not refundable if test is not completed or passed.
All testing is conducted in the ChutingStar Rigging Loft, located on the 2nd floor of our shop and warehouse at 1349 Old 41 Hwy NW, Suite 105, Marietta GA 30060.
