The Alti-2 Altimaster Galaxy is the skydiving industry standard for visual analog altimeters.

The Galaxy has an altitude range of 18,000 feet MSL, marked in 250 foot increments. The face of Galaxy is highlighted with a yellow caution and red warning arc that starts at 3,000 feet. The Galaxy contains a durable mechanism made from temperature compensating metals for minimal friction and precision accuracy.
This altimeter by Alti-2 includes a wrist strap with finger-loop. A Velcro wrist mount is available separately from ChutingStar.
The face of the Altimaster Galaxy is currently only available with a glow-face background. The glow face is phosphorescent and provides a background glow to assist in low light conditions. The glow lasts over 2 hours in complete darkness.

Great itemGreat basic starting out Altimeter. Used it during getting A license and loved it so much never switched. I'm old school and not a big fan of techno stuff so that's why I love this one.

Great AltimeterI used this alti as a student. No complaints. Very clear display. I now have one mounted to my chest for wingsuiting and like it very much. Overall its a great basic altimeter!

STOP! You've found the altimeter for you!Reliable, accurate, and cheap. For an analog altimeter, this is it. No need to keep looking, you've found the best. There's a reason that this is the most common in our world. if it ever does need work, or just a good cleaning, Alti-2 will do it for you at a very low cost (in 2014 i paid $18 for a recalibration, cleaning, new face, new lens, etc), and in a hurry. Alti-2 is a GREAT company to do business with and they'll take great care of you. John Hawke (their fearless leader) is a great man and won't let you down

1st Piece of Equipment to BuyThis was the first gear purchase I made. I couldn't be happier with it and its simplicity and ease of use along with its reliability. Even though I've switched to a digital for my wrist, I still have this mounted on my mudflap just in case. Love this thing, only wish I could add some customization to the face plate to make it more fun.

Reliable and well-pricedI used one of these through AFF and getting my A-License. I'm not experienced, but I can say that the majority of the experienced jumpers at my DZ use these and haven't had second thoughts about their reliability. I bought one myself and have been happy with it so far. It's tough, reliable, and well-priced.

The old reliable altimeterThis is the first piece of gear you should buy. Old school big dial that you can read easily no matter how good or bad things are going. If the needle is in the red things aren't looking good. Doesn't get any more obvious than that. You will grow up in the sport and buy that Gucci digital altimeter but leave this one in your bag. One day you will turn on that digital only to realize the batteries are dead and you don't have any spares. Your Altimaster will still be there ready to jump with you even though you ignored it for the last 6 months. Smack this thing against the side of the plane as much as you want. It will last. It should be in those Timex commercials from the 70s with Jim McKay.

Excellent altimeter, great for all uses.When you say analog altimeter this is the one (I feel like) first comes to mind for most people. It's tough, reliable, accurate and can be used for just about any application. Even if you prefer a digital this altimeter is awesome to have as a backup especially if you know you're going into water for example.

Good product, one minor issueI have been jumping this type of altimeter since I started skydiving and for the most part I love it. The only issue I have ever run into is its accuracy at high altitudes. Above about 10,000 ft. AGL it has read up to 1,000 ft. above true altitude which has given me scares about its accuracy at lower, more critical altitudes.
