RAWA's replacement chincup includes an small, flat cutaway webbing strap.
This strap gives the jumper something to grab in the case of an emergency to open the chincup quick release and release the helmet.
This system is not as easy to grab as traditional cutaway systems, but it is also a better system if you're concerned about accidental release. The webbing cutaway strap lays flat along one side of the chincup and can be pulled to release the ratchet system, or if pulled hard enough will break the ratchet apart.

SEVERLY DISAPPOINTED!I purchased this chin cup for my Rawa helmet a few weeks ago to replace an older model standard chin cup and rusted on bonehead cutaway system that came with my helmet when i bought it used. Last weekend i had a nasty main/reserve entanglement followed by a reserve/camera entanglement. This system DID NOT cutaway! There was NO way i could get a grip on the tiny tab you pull to release it and i was not wearing gloves. In the end i managed to jam open the ratchets and get the helmet off which then remained entangled in my reserve lines. I do not recommend relying on this cutaway system AT ALL. I will likely be adding a secondary cutaway system such as the bonehead or sky systems one. Also quite disappointed with the lack of padding on this chin cup…my chin feels bruised after a weekend of jumping with it.
ChutingStar Note: The cutaway system integrated on the Rawa Chincup is not for everyone. The tab is small to prevent accidental release and does work if pulled to open the ratchet, or if pulled hard enough, breaks the ratchet off (as designed). Camera flyers should make touching the cutaway part of their every jump handle touches. For those who want or need a more traditional cutaway system, this chincup can be combined with the cutaway kits from Bonehead, Sky Systems or Sky Shot, or Cookie makes it's own fully integrated cutaway chincup and chinstrap systems with larger grabs.Posted on
