The FAA Parachute Rigger Handbook (FAA-H-8083-17) is the first new technical “how to” book since the revised Parachute Manual in 1991.

The PRH is the FAA official rigger handbook written by Sandy Reid, Master rigger, DPRE and Course Director at the United States Academy of Parachute Rigging. The PRH has been called “the New Testament in parachute rigging – a must have book.” And it is a must-have for reference and information for all riggers and riggers-to-be as information and techniques in the PRH are part of the FAA rigger test bank of questions.

The PRH is in full color consisting of 344 pages and is bound with a heavy duty plastic spiral. Riggers will find it extremely user friendly enabling the book to be opened to lay flat for easy access and reference.

The PRH is a technical “hands on” book. The material presented in this handbook is appropriate for senior and master parachute riggers. The handbook contains information on regulations and human factors, design and construction, materials, operations, inspection and packing, hand tools, sewing machines, the parachute loft, repairs, alterations, and manufacture.

Note: There is a newer version of the FAA Parachute Rigger Handbook, the FAA-H-8083-17A Change 1, that is only available via .pdf download at this link. It is not believed that any of the info in the latest version is being used currently in the FAA Rigger Written Tests as the newest version was released in December 2015 and it takes a few years to update FAA tests. The printed version should be used for studying for the Written Test, while the .pdf version from December 2015 should be used as a reference and additional information.
