AON2 Brilliant Pebbles Wireless Audible Altimeter!

Altitude awareness should be an essential commodity, not an unaffordable luxury.

Audible simplicity – wireless edition (now compatible with iPhones™!)

The AON2 Brilliant Pebbles Wireless Audible Altimeter has up to 20 diffferent alarms. To set the altitude, simply connect it to a smartphone, tablet or computer and use the AON2 app to change the settings. Set your altitudes, alarm tones, change the volume and more!

With USB-C, iPhone compatibility, and now wireless, it’s a huge step in the usability of the Brilliant Pebbles audible.

iPhone Compatibility. Compatible with both Android and iOS devices. This has been the most common request to us for the Brilliant Pebbles. AON2 has released an iOS app at the same time as an Android app, so iPhone users can use the Brilliant Pebbles immediately! With no need for a cable, the app is easier to use than ever.

Secure Wireless. Convenience AND Security. No other wireless audible currently on the market has security on its wireless - any device can connect to them, making them vulnerable to connection by mistake, or worse, malicious tampering. Brilliant Pebbles remembers its owners’ phone - once you connect to your audible, it will only allow that particular phone to connect to it, and no one else. This means it can keep its wireless always-on - other companies’ audibles need to have the wireless turned on manually due to their lack of wireless security. This means, you can change the alarm settings of your Brilliant Pebble without even taking it out of your helmet!

USB-C. Brilliant Pebbles finally dispenses with its outdated micro-USB connector in favor of the new USB-C connector. With most devices moving to the USB-C standard, a skydiver can use the same cable to charge their phone, GoPro, Kindle, Brilliant Pebble, and more! This is way ahead of most other audibles which are still using coin cells for batteries.

FAQs

Does it work with iPhones?
Yes! It works with both Android phones and iPhones (and tablets).

Can I change the settings in the aircraft?
Yes – you don’t even need to take it out of your helmet!

Can the alarms be a voice saying the altitude?
Unfortunately, the speaker in this device can only do beeps and not a voice.

Is it available in other colours?
At the moment, it’s only available in blue. We will introduce more colours in the future!

Does it have a logbook?
No. Please have a look at our digital altimeter, the X2 which has a logbook feature.

Why can’t my phone see my device in the app?
If you’re using Android, please make sure you’ve enabled all app permissions, including Location permission. Please also ensure that Location services are enabled. We don’t track your location, it’s just that wireless usage for the app requires this.

Is it waterproof?
No. To keep its price low, this device is not waterproof.

Is there any security? What if someone connects to my device by accident?
The wireless connection is protected with encryption. When you first pair the Brilliant Pebble to your phone, it will remember your phone and only allow your phone to connect. Any other device will be rejected.

But what if I change to a different phone, or use a second phone to change my audible settings?
You will be able to reset the wireless security by pressing the unlock button using a sim card pin, straightened paperclip or similar tool. Then when you pair your new phone to the brilliant pebble, it will lock to that phone and reject other devices. For security, only one device is allowed to connect to the audible at a time. However, your phone can connect to more than one Brilliant Pebble and store several devices in its list.

Can I buy helmet adapters for it?
Yes, it’s exactly the same size as the most recent version of the Brilliant Pebble, so the current adapters work for it as well.

What will happen to the previous version?
The previous version of the Brilliant Pebbles will be discontinued and no longer manufactured.

Help! I’ve dropped my audible in the packing area and can’t find it!
You can use bluetooth to find it! Just open the app, scan for your device, and “test” an alarm to make it beep so you can find it!

The product is super easy to use. You set the alarms right on your phone. You can adjust the alarm sound, volume, duration and multiple other features. You can also have many alarms, more than the standard 3 you get with others. Only downside is battery life is not nearly as good as some of the alternatives and the plastic case is a bit flimsey feeling.

The altimeter is good in comparison with the price, maybe you feel worry because of non screen or you don't see the altitudes always but you will use to this, the bluetooth connection is good and the function is so easy, I recommend to use it and save your money

I upgraded from the original brilliant pebbles and I am pleasantly surprised by how much I appreciate the improvements. The new one uses USB-C for charging, which I find to be far more convenient. The bluetooth connections is excellent, as I can change my alarms on the fly rather than having to rely on changing them from my computer at home (the old one would not connect to my phone via cable). The bluetooth edition is also slightly slimmer with more rounded edges, making it fit in my helmet more comfortably.

The only reason I took off a star for durability is because of the very light plastic construction. I would be very worried about breaking it if it went through half the abuse the Atlas on my wrist does. Of course, I could by a spare brilliant pebbles and still save money compared to a lot of audibles on the market.

I'm new to skydiving, and I got this as a cheap alternative to the other audibles out there. Plus, I want to know how much time I'm taking per 1000ft of free fall. This device allows 20 alarms, so I have it set to beep at every 1000ft, and it does allow for 9 different times. It's then up to you to keep in mind which tone reflects which altitude. Anyway, my main reason to review all this was ChutingStar customer service. The level of detail in it is impeccable. I ordered an orange Pebble, and I received an orange Starburst (they have included one in every order I've placed so far!). That was just too much, honestly ????

One last thing: the device feels like cheap plastic, quite honestly. Cue in retro handheld video games where the plastic between the top and the bottom showed some gap where you could see inside. Old school, if you can handle those devices, go for it!

Amazing audible. No issues with build quality. Easy to use app makes setting this up a cinch. One thing, if you have a newer android phone you will need to pick up a usb to usbc adapter.

I have had the audible for about a year now, and have about 20 jumps with it. I am a newer jumper but I have to say for a beginner and for the price, it is miles above the rest. Great battery life, straight forward easy instructions to download app to my macbook and input altitudes and chimes. Turn the volume all the way up though, in my experience.

My audible stopped working after only 1 year. The worst part is that it seems like it's working (beeps when you turn it on, blinks when active), but none of the altimeter alarms go off. Spend a little more money and buy something reliable.

I bought my Brilliant Pebbles audible and began using it in the second half of July. It's now almost Christmas and there are nearly 80 jumps logged on it. My opinion is that this little gem is worth more than its price. The most amazing part is how long the battery life is -- that was something I was concerned about. I recharged it once -- not because it was low, but because I was installing the newly updated firmware and figured, what the heck. So on that point alone, I'm impressed.

As a color blind guy, I really appreciate the separate lights that indicate when it's charging and it's full. I just can't tell when "the red light changes to green," and so on. Thanks, Aon2!

The only negative, if there is one, is this British import thinks in meters rather than feet. Oh, yes, I chose feet when it was setup, but it tends to convert those numbers to meters internally anyway. You'll know when you enter the software and see the altitudes have changed just a little bit. That's really not a problem, but it give you something to chuckle about.

The only wish I have is that they'd come up with actual altitude callouts instead of beeps. It wouldn't be difficult at all to do. But that's just me. When the beeps sound, I automatically look at my visual anyway, so it's not a problem.

How do I like it? Yeah! I do. Very much. It's more accurate than my analog visual altimeter, and it's consistent. Turn it on at the DZ and it stays on throughout the day's jumps. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking at buying an audible. Don't let the price fool you.

You get what you pay for. For the price I could've dealt with having to use a ph/laptop to set it. The bad stuff: 1) Build quality is not good. 1st one i ordered had case separation around the charging port. So did my replacement. My buddy also ordered one a few days later and his had case separation in the same spot. Also the green fully changed light indicator never came on the 1st unit. 2) This being the worst part. The first unit did beep at the Altitudes I set but off by 2 to 300. The 2nd unit (replacement for separation 1st case had) didn't go off at setting accurately and MOST importantly never went off at my decision Altitude of 2500. So both will be returned. ChutingStar is Awesome and I've already ordered a Solo 2 by L&B from chutingstar. I had high hopes.
