The OPTIMA™ II is an audible altimeter with freefall alerts, canopy descent warnings and landing guide tones. The canopy descent warnings and landing guide tones allow you to preset warning altitudes for use under canopy and, if desired, to provide timing beeps to help you track your landing pattern.
The Optima II is now water resistant!
For extra protection of your Optima II such as intentional water landings or pond swoopers, select the Protektor case in the Related Products section. It is a two-piece, clam-shell design that keeps the water out of your Optima and still allows full functionality of the unit and visibility of the screen interface. A spare battery set can also be added to the order.

The party line has long been to not get an audible until >100 jumps. I don't agree. I bought one as soon as I came off student status. It's a wonderful little device. I've already had a wrist alti fail on me. I went low because of it. I'm too new to recognize altitudes by sight. This serves as a backup alti.Plus, If I ever lose alti awareness while jumping w/others? It will be there for me. If my alti craps out? I'll still know my landing pattern altitudes. It reduces stress. It provides an additional layer of safety. It's a common sense, basic safety measure. It's also a whole lot cheaper than a broken leg, or worse... I think it's foolish to deny students this based on tired old dogma.Durability Quality Price
You can check altitude during climb in real-time ten foot increments. You can adjust both pitch & volume of the various alarms (very important if you've hearing damage, as I do). You can set the various alarms to pretty much whatever alts you please. Add in L&B's no-worries customer service, & this becomes a no-brainer. (Posted on 7/3/11)
