Excellent helmet for the money Review by Toby

I'm an AFF student and didn't want to spend too much on a helmet yet. The loaner helmets at my dropzone are old and uncomfortable. The Benny looks cool but more importantly, it's really comfortable. On my first flight up, I didn't even want to take it off. I've also worn it in the wind tunnel with the same satisfaction. I got the size XL since my head size is 23.5. It felt a little loose at first but it feels great in freefall or in the tunnel. I might blow $20 on a size L liner just to see if it feels better. The foam is pretty thin and firm and doesn't give too much, not like a motorcycle helmet. Even though there are no holes in the ear areas, you can still hear pretty well. The ear cutouts are perfectly sized for an audible altimeter/alarm but when I put my Alti-2 Neptune 2 in place, it puts too much pressure on my ears and is not comfortable. Might be better to drill a small hole and mount it on the outside. The idea of the goggle strap slot is cool but I found that routing my goggles through there makes them too tight and the strap hurts the back of my head. And you have to untie the goggle strap to route it through the helmet. What it boils down to is whether in the plane, freefall, under canopy, or in the wind tunnel, the Benny is comfortable enough I don't really think about it. Chutingstar sent a nice sticker with the helmet so I stuck it right on. Thanks, Chutingstar! (Posted on 10/4/11)

The first helmet - the first disappointment. Actually, it costs its price, but the question is: if it's skydiving helmet, why manufacturer states:
- This helmet is not intended to provide any head, brain, neck or facial injuries.
MegaLOL :)

The second disappointment was when I tried to detach internal materials (foam rubber) from it. I was surprised when velcros were detached from the helmet itself!!! The manufacturer uses cheap clue!!! Crazy!!!

Prons:
1. price

Cons:
1. construction
2. safety

Good Helmet @ a good price. Review by Tumbleweed

I'm almost finished w/my A-license. The Protek helmets @my DZ are TIRED. Even when new, I don't feel they offered as much protection. This helmet actually fits my head. For only $66, you get a rugged helmet w/a lot of padding in it (unless you wear an XL). My size large has a very thick pad set in it, including down past the ears. You can still hear a radio for AFF. As much as you could(n't) before, anyway. I don't worry about someone stealing it. I don't worry about scratching the paint on the ride up to altitude. It protects me from bonking my head on someone's helmet, the plane, or the ground. A $300 helmet won't save you any better if you slam the ground @terminal. What matters is the amount of padding, NOT how hard the shell is. There is either enough padding to decelerate your brain, or there isn't. @the end of the day? $300+ helmets are purely bling. Replacement liners only cost $19, to boot. So long as the shell won't shatter on impact w/a rock in the ground (doesn't look like it would). I'll remain very pleased w/my purchase. I also got excellent service from Chuting Star, BTW. Thanks Guys. (Posted on 8/6/10)
