10/25/2005: "Chuting Star Rigging Loft Relocates to Skydive the Farm"

We’ve got new digs!

Chuting Star Rigging Loft moved its entire parachute rigging and skydiving coaching operation to Skydive The Farm on August 24. The next day we were inspecting, packing and repairing parachutes, jumpsuits and containers as well as coaching young skydivers by the weekend.

The new facility is nearly three times the size of our loft at Atlanta Skydiving Center. The 1200-square-foot loft at Skydive The Farm includes 7 sewing machines, a full wall of raw materials, a work station with hot knives, grommet setters, snap setters and punches as well as a new 40-foot packing table for rounds and a line bench.

Chutingstar now has room to inspect and pack four square reserves and one round reserve at the same time. Our standards, hours of operation and level of customer service has not changed. See the FAQ and Services pages of the Chutingstar web site.

We also remain a Mirage service center as well as an approved Skyhook installation center for Relative Workshop. Chutingstar is an affiliate member of the Parachute Industry Association and a group member of the United States Parachute Association.

The Chutingstar address has changed as well as some of our phone numbers. See the Contact page of our web site for the new information as well as directions to the new facility in Rockmart, Georgia. We have also added a line of T-shirts, baby dolls shirts, spaghetti strap shirts and sports bras.

We are traveling to Thomaston, Georgia, for Skydive Atlanta’s Halloween Boogie this week. Chuting Star Rigging Loft will provide parachute rigging services for Skydive Atlanta and its customers from Thursday, Oct. 27 through Monday, Oct. 31. Come see us in Thomaston! We will return to Skydive The Farm on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Chutingstar was based out of Atlanta Skydiving Center, Alabama Skydiving Center and Skydive Pennridge over the past 8 years. The United States Parachute Association disciplined those three locations and its owners earlier this year. The rigging business was so closely associated with those drop zones that it became increasingly obvious that our reputation was being negatively affected. We also did not approve of how the skydiving customers were solicited or treated at these operations and no longer wanted to be associated with those business practices.

All tools, machines and supplies belonging to Chutingstar were moved from those three locations to Skydive The Farm. We are no longer associated with Atlanta Skydiving Center, its owners and all associated businesses.

Skydive The Farm DZO Hans Paulsen and property-owner Greg Dowdy welcomed us in and helped us get setup in August. We look forward to helping Skydive The Farm’s skydiving operation and Chutingstar’s rigging operation grow every year.

Come check out our new facility at the east end of Skydive The Farm’s 55 acres!
